We signed the boys up with DK Model Management, Sheffield in April 2008 and within two weeks we were asked to attend a casting for the Triple Velvet Advert in London. We went down for two casting sessions during April/May 08. In May 08 we were offered the contract.
The first part of the production focused on the packaging so we spent three days on a photo shoot in Kensington during June 08. The next part to place in July and involved three days of filming at various locations around Greater London. Once the advert had been completed we we're then asked to carry out a two day filming and photo shoot to provide material for the website.
It was hard work for us both, but the boys loved every minute of it and really lapped up all the attention. We were looked after extremely well and all our needs were catered for, of course there we're little problems, usually with the hotels themselves not providing the right facilities etc but the production team were always contactable to help out when necessary. One great example of their kindness was them hiring a Winnebago especially for the boys to have their daily nap.
The production team were really good with the boys, they let them have playtime when they started to loose their concentration. That's the main reason why they require identical twins for projects like this, as they can only work with children for a maximum of 5 hours per day. Also when one wouldn't co-operate the other generally will. We made a good tag team Richard and I. Richard mostly assisted them with the photoshoot and filming parts and I kept the other little guy occupied. I did get in on the action from time to time, but Richard was a pro at it J
During the photo shoot and filming for the boys we're very much into the 'Barney' character which helped immensely when trying to get them to carry out a particular tasks associated with the story line. Some of the shoots where they were required to point, the crew had pictures of Barney everywhere and even held up pieces of paper with Barney on to get them to point in that direction.
It certainly opened up our eyes as to what actually goes on behind the scenes for adverts and we won't look at an advert in the same way again.
